Northland Utilities Enterprises Ltd.
Northland Utilities Enterprises Ltd. (NUEL) provides power to over 2,500 customers in Trout Lake, Kakisa, Dory Point, Fort Providence, Enterprise, Hay River, K’atlodeeche First Nation and Wekweeti. NUEL also distributes power generated by the NWT Power Corporation to 1,700 customers in Yellowknife and Ndilo.
DII has a 14% interest in NUEL. Other shareholders are ATCO Electric and Arctic Energy Investors. NUEL has 30 employees in the NWT and of these approximately 25% are Aboriginal. NUEL also contracts with First Nations people to provide services in some communities.
